Paper models of planets

This map of the moon was created from image data taken by the Clementine spacecraft. You can find the source map at the Solarviews website along with lots of other space related images.

This model is based on a colourised relief map of mars. Assembled from data retrieved by The Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter, an instrument currently in orbit around Mars on the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) spacecraft.

These panels were made using ip-slicer, a perl script for taking a spherical panorama image (or a spherical globe map) and slicing it into segments suitable for sticking together into a 3d sphere.
